THIS COURSE IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THIS INFORMATION REMAINS HERE FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE FUTURE.
Ohio State University Extension Muskingum County and the Muskingum Valley Park District will be offering an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Course (OCVN) beginning April 16, 2020. The mission of the OCVN program is to promote awareness and citizen stewardship of Ohio’s natural resources through science-based education and community service. This course will meet the 40-hour instruction requirement to become an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.
To fully meet all requirements of certification, volunteers must also complete 40 hours of service and meet annual service expectations. Muskingum County has an abundance of public natural spaces and many opportunities exist to work in the community and with the Muskingum Valley Park District. The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program is coordinated by The Ohio State University and this educational class is organized by OSU Extension Muskingum County. Ongoing volunteer opportunities will be offered through the Muskingum Valley Park District.
Class sessions will include combined indoor and outdoor experiences and participants should be prepared for both rain and sunshine. The full cost of the class is $125 and applications are due April 3, 2020. Questions about the class can be directed to Clifton Martin, Extension Educator, OSU Extension Muskingum County at 740-454-0144 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications and a syllabus are available at muskingum.osu.edu/ocvn or at the Muskingum County Extension Office, 225 Underwood St, Zanesville. Questions specific to the Muskingum Valley Park District can be directed to Russ Edgington, at 740-455-8237 or email@example.com.
