4-H New Volunteer Information
Muskingum County 4-H is currently supported by nearly 300 volunteers, but we are always looking for more! If you are interested in serving as a teen or adult volunteer, please contact our office at 740-454-0144. A volunteer screening proceedure is in place for all potential 4-H volunteers.
2008 New Volunteer Interview and Orientation Times

Every new 4-H volunteer must attend one meeting and schedule an interview time.

You must pre-register for the session you wish to attend. Please call the Extension Office at 740-454-0144.

Applications must be completed prior to attending a session. Application can be found in the New Volunteer Packet below.

2008 4-H Club Volunteer Orientation Times:
- Tuesday, February, 19, 2008 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon
- Thursday, March 13, 2008 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Thursday, March 13, 2008 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
2008 4-H Cloverbud Volunteer Orientation Time:
- Monday, February 25, 2008 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
New Volunteer Packet
Requirements to serve as a 4-H Volunteer**
(Ohio Law Effective 11-01-02)
- Complete an Ohio 4-H Volunteer Application from, including the names and addresses of 3 individuals who are not related to you. Return to the Extension Office prior to attending orientation.
- Obtain a fingerprint (Web Check) at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Administrative Office, located on the 3rd floor of the National City Bank, 4th Street, Zanesville. The Sheriff’s Office will perform Web Check background checks Monday – Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A. The applicant will need to bring ONE of the following:
- Ohio Driver’s License, or
- State of Ohio ID, or
- Birth Certificate and Social Security Card
B. $30.00 fee (cash, money order or certified check, checks should be made
payable to: Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office WebCheck.
- Participate in an interview at the OSU Extension Office (scheduled through the Muskingum County Extension Office).
- Participate in a new volunteer orientation.
